Bad Switch

Posted August 22nd, 2005 in General by Jeff O'Hara

We had a switch go bad during a storm friday evening. Surge protectors and UPS’s are not the end all to be all. We use high quality APC ups’s too. Oh well, switch has been replaced and we are back up now.

iRiver T30

Posted August 19th, 2005 in General by Jeff O'Hara

I just picked up an iRiver T30 to complement my iRiver H320. I picked the T30 up primarily to listen to podcasts and do audio recording. I know I can do that with the H320 but I wanted a smaller flash based player/recorder for listening while doing active/athletic things and not wanting to jar the hard drive in my H320. Let me tell you with a price point of $99 bucks, you can’t miss with the T30 with it’s feature set. I would have posted pictures but my wife is away for the weekend and took the camera.

Chris Pirillo’s Open Letter to Sony

Posted August 19th, 2005 in General by Jeff O'Hara

Chris Pirillo writes “I have two suggestions for you: (1) Sell PSP movies / shows at $5 a pop; and/or (2) bundle UMDs with your regular DVD cases as value-adds. The first suggestion is self-explanatory. The second deserves your full attention. You’ll fuel countless more PSP sales by bundling the UMD with another media purchase… instead of screwing your customers in yet another way.”

I don’t know about you you, but I think the idea of bundling UMD’s with regular DVD sales is an ingenious way to sell more PSP’s. I would definately buy a PSP if I had all these UMD’s laying around doing nothing. I am not your ideal market for a PSP owner, i don’t travel much, I’m not a gamer and don’t have a lot of free time to play with a “toy”. But the fact that I would have all these UMD’s laying would make me start thinking about puchasing one. Ingenious!!!!

First Podcast from space

Steve Robinson of STS-114 has done the first podcast from space. I don’t see an rss feed though, just a direct mp3 link. Maybe Steve has a personal site with an rss feed. If anybody finds an rss feed, let me know.

Offline

Well i’ve been offline for a couple days and haven’t really felt like posting. There was some drama this week with my 4 year old dog having a seizure and I just needed a little break from being online.
